2019 ANNUAL Trip

Another Year for the Books.

With input from families and community partners, we are on our way to the construction of a pediatric center in Honduras. We wanted to develop a way to help families seamlessly connect with the best community resources to meet their needs.

A big thank you to our partners at Gift of Life.

Sustainable, autonomous training-to-cure hospital programs in Honduras.

Truth is our team witnessed there are two realities Honduras: people who can pay for a private hospital and those who can’t.

Visiting the local hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit - less than ten incubators, and all are in use - we saw how a baby had to be transferred to another hospital to receive the critical care he needs. If he survives the transfer, his parents will need to find a way to make trips to that hospital for months.

Through partnerships, The Rotary Club of Historic Jackson Heights has raised more than $150,000 in the last ten years. We funded over fifteen cardiac operations held in our partner hospital in Colombia, hosted these families during their time of need and fully funded their transportation from Honduras to the US followed by Colombia and back.

Every year we organize awareness events that also funded the cost of publicity to inform San Pedro Sula families about health care workshops conducted by area health workers. The publicity campaign aimed to reach mothers in remote areas who may not know what services are available to them.

We are committed to improving outcomes and quality of life for children with all forms of cardiomyopathy and committed to forming partnerships with like minded organizations working towards the same goal.

Truth is, congenital heart defects are the most common type of birth defects in the world. Child mortality, 11 percent, with leading cause of death heart-related.

Our team makes a significant contribution to our mission with their knowledge, skills and joy. Thanks to generous donations of time, money and equipment, we are able to provide healing to kids in Honduras.
